This represents the glory of the old covenant. His face shone so brightly that he had to wear a veil to cover his face. The old covenant had a glory, and this is seen when Moses received the law. We believe in his finished work and are qualified for every good thing. Jesus has fulfilled it in its entirety and, because we are in Christ, we are now reaping the blessings of his obedience. The new covenant was made between the Father and the Son. It was a conditional covenant, and because of this it became a broken covenant. Under the old covenant, God gave a law and promised to bless Israel as long as they obeyed its commandments. If we place ourselves under the old covenant we will experience an ongoing struggle in our Christian lives. Sadly, some Christians are still trying to relate to God on the basis of a covenant which no longer exists.Īnd others attempt to mix covenants, or have one foot in each. The old covenant has passed away and has become obsolete. First, let’s be clear that we are living in the era of the new covenant. ‘We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord’ (2 Cor.3:18).Īt one of my Radical Grace seminars I was teaching on what it means to live in the glory of the new covenant and someone asked me, ‘What about the Old Testament?
